An American-made, full size axe that can fill the #1 spot as the best in the world. Take a look at our selection and give one a try, and you will not be disappointed! Using the same approach we took in redesigning the hammer and hatchet, we’ve finally arrived at an amazing tool that works the way it’s intended to.

Day 2 and about 1/4 of a cord of pine and cedar logs about foot in diameter. My 36 inch handle split at the butt. Extremely disappointed.

Great “impulse” buy for me.. AND it’s top notch in balance, and sharpness, to name just a couple. If in need, OR JUST want = buy! You won’t be disappointed.

Looked great, unfortunately the second swing in splitting a log there was a Nick/roll on the axe edge. Very disappointing for the cost.

I havent used it yet. But I can give initial impressions.
I bought a black head with natural handle.

The axes edge is seemingly sharp. Close to a mirror polish. But, I was unable to slice paper with it. Which is a good sharpness test. I guessed the edge had a micro burr on it. So i stroped it on some balsa wood with diamond paste. 3 alternating swipes on each side and its able to slice paper now. So it was very close to being razor sharp. Just missed the last step.
The black axe head is finished well. But on the sharp top edges it had lost some coating from the factory. So that doesnt give mich faith on the longevity of the coating. Im going to touch it up with some birchwood black matte paint and coat it in hornadys hot shot.

The handle. Welp, its a medium curly figured hickory. Surprised the h*** out of me! It was finished well enough for a axe handle. But...its curly hickory. Im a wood worker... I couldnt just leave it at well enough. So.... I removed the coating and sanded it to a nice 800 grit, lightly with 3000 grit and coated it in Odies oil, then wax. Made the figure pop out more and it may look a little to nice to be an axe handle!😅😂
Im guessing they get decently figured hickory here and there. I just got lucky.

To Hardcore Hammers,
Offer decently figured hickory as an option. Obviously too much figure wouldnt be that great for an axe handle. Straight grain is just stronger. But, I would pay a little extra for the handle that I received.

Its a nice axe. Itll be replacing my cold steel trail boss.
